How long could you stay sober if you couldn’t attend meetings?
The Corrections Committee carries the message to the men and women in the Santa Fe County Adult Detention Center (the jail) and to the men in the Penitentiary of New Mexico, a state prison located here in Santa Fe. To take meetings into the jail you need to be "off paper" for the last five years since your last felony conviction, and have at least six months of continuous sobriety or the permission of your sponsor. Each facility requires volunteers to attend its own orientation class and to go through a security clearance check before they can attend meetings in the facility. The process takes a minimum of a month and frequently longer.
